Coat Check

1.      Wear Red! For easy recognition all volunteers will wear a bright red shirt (of your choice). Comfortable sneakers and jeans/pants are recommended. It may be chilly near the doors so please plan accordingly.

2.      Parking is limited! Carpool or take the RTA. We can’t stress enough that there is very limited parking. Please plan on carpooling or taking public transportation.

Lakeside/St. Clair (free on weekends, requires quarters on Friday 3/5) or in Willard Garage ($9). Use the entrance on the taxi ramp (E Mall Drive) off of St. Clair St, between E 6th St. and W Mall Drive. Guests will utilize the same entrance. Second shift volunteers, please plan on adding 10 minutes to find limited parking.

3.      Find your home when you arrive. All persons must check in upon arrival. At the Volunteer Check In table you will receive a Volunteer Badge, a cheat sheet with instructions for your job position, and any necessary updates.  Drop off your coat at the Volunteer Coat Check.  And find your “home”! A Volunteer Guide will pick you up at the start of your shift and escort you to your station.

4.      When in doubt find someone with a HAT. Your Lead or Head Volunteers are your first line of defense for any questions or concerns. They will be wearing red and a large gaudy hat. If you find yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable, seek out a squad member wearing a red cap. Cleveland Police are on site to handle emergencies.

5.      It’s on your badge! Find out the guest schedule, which services are available for guests, and your Home Area on your badge. You will be given one at Volunteer Check In. If something is not answered on your badge, consult your cheat sheet or ask someone with a gaudy hat.

6.      Don’t forget to CELEBRATE! Join HSD Volunteers, In-Kind/Financial contributors, and funders to celebrate the success and positive impact of the Stand Down! The HSD Celebration Event will take place on Thursday, March 11, 6-8PM at Euclid Avenue Congregational Church (9606 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106) Please join us as we recognize those who’s hard work and dedication make this hefty event a grand success!
