 Why Join InterAct Cleveland?

InterAct Cleveland invites congregations and faith communities to join who affirm InterAct’s mission and core values and want to work in partnership with individuals and congregations from diverse religious, economic, geographic, and racial backgrounds.

The partnerships and caring communities initiated by InterAct Cleveland are badly needed in Greater Cleveland, where census data portrays a city leading the nation in poverty, shrinking in population, and divided by race. InterAct also provides opportunities for individuals and groups to live out aspects of their faith, from building understanding about what it means to live abundantly in a pluralistic world to making change on systemic issues of injustice.

Some members use InterAct Cleveland as a vehicle for expanding their local mission/social justice efforts. Several members are involved in a variety of initiatives alone or in collaboration with other congregations ranging from the Meals Program (direct service) to the Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence (advocacy) to the Interreligious Celebration each Thanksgiving Day (interreligious events).

InterAct Cleveland addresses two areas of need: those of Greater Cleveland's diverse residents to better understand and respect one another; and those of individuals who directly benefit from the specific programs offered through InterAct Cleveland — generally those who face the challenges of poverty.

Throughout its history, InterAct Cleveland has proven to be highly effective for people of diverse backgrounds and faiths to work together. InterAct Cleveland's partnership model results in an array of programs and services developed and implemented by congregations and community volunteers. More than 1,000 volunteers from InterAct Cleveland congregations, organizations, and neighborhood residents are providing services benefiting an estimated 7,500 individuals who participate in direct service programs.
